A large green muskmelon with a delicate netting on the rind and a rich salmon colored flesh. Persian melons weigh around 5 pounds and have a delicious, sweet flavor that is extremely rich.

    Unlike other melons, Persians do not ripen off the vine so are picked ripe and should be used immediately. They also do not have the normal smooth round "slip" at the stem end because they must be cut from the vine, not picked.
